A blend of Surrealism and French New Wave, Untitled #9 is the portrayal of misinterpretation in the guise of nostalgia. The title paired with the super 8 film suggests a ‘home movie’ quality, assisting the transcription of intimacy I wished to evoke. Borrowing from Eric Rohmer, Kenneth Anger, Derek Jarman, and Alain Resnais, this film adopts the unconventional narrative techniques these film-makers commonly utilized.
This film is composed of myself in so many ways — the objects and atmosphere, the references and philosophy, even the setting is my bedroom itself — in a portfolio of my work, it seems only right to share this piece that’s so representative of my taste.
